We are finishing another week of a great topic—Dream Big. Elder Oaks reminded us that we are to be judged on the condition of us, not just a checklist of what things we did right and wrong necessarily. The Lord is more interested in who we have become. To be truly converted we are to do and to become. How do I want to do and become in my business?
In Think Big, Taylor Richards taught of his experience winning in the top 10 of the dealers in North America. He didn’t think it could be done at first. He challenges us not to underestimate ourselves or our company and to take the Lord along with us.
One of the
most interesting concepts I learned this week was from Marissa Mayer as she
explained
Google’s 20% time. If my company isn’t going to incorporate this concept
then I want to implement it myself on my time. Within the gospel we are taught
to ponder. I’ve been “pondering” pondering. I think it’s truly becoming a lost
art. Do you know what has interrupted my pondering? Tiktok. There are so many quick
business and marketing insights on there, I’m finding I don’t want to miss out.
It reminds me of Good, Better, Best. Although I don’t think many would find
Tiktok in the Good category, I’m allowing it to consume my pondering time. I will
set aside time to ponder each day and work on the items that I want to learn
about—not because school is “enticing me” or the Come Follow Me manual, but because
I’m curious.
Leaning about the foundation of the emotional blueprint was interesting—knowing that when we learn to validate our emotions, we are able to best overcome our challenges. I was quite frustrated that this talk referenced 7 characteristics but didn’t mention them in the message. Maybe I will choose this topic for my next “ponder” session?
